Independent Educational Evaluations
Sometimes parents believe that the school has not made the correct determinations through their assessment. For example, parents may believe that the results of the assessment are inaccurate or incomplete. IDEA, the federal special education law, allows parents to obtain an independent evaluation and to present the results of that evaluation to the IEP team. At times, the school will pay for this evaluation. At other times, the parents or a third party pays.
I provide independent behavior evaluations. Typically, to perform an independent behavior evaluation, I conduct a functional behavior assessment.
